Topflite Academy is proud to announce its official partnership with Airworks Aviation Academy to deliver world-class Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT)! Manila, Philippines, 04 October 2025 — Topflite Academy has entered into a training partnership with Airworks Aviation Academy to deliver the Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) Program to Airworks student pilots. The collaboration underscores Topflite Academy’s commitment to advancing aviation safety and supporting the next generation of professional pilots across the region.
The initial batch includes 39 cadets from Airworks’ Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilot Program. Training will be delivered using Topflite Academy’s Cessna 152 Aerobat, enabling cadets to gain direct experience in recognizing and recovering from in-flight upsets. UPRT was first mandated by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in 2019 and is progressively being rolled out by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) for all flight training organizations nationwide. The program is designed to strengthen pilot competencies in handling unexpected aircraft upsets, a leading cause of fatal accidents. Topflite Academy and Airworks Aviation have secured special authorization from the CAAP to conduct the program at Airworks’ training base at Mactan-Cebu International Airport beginning October 2025. Training will be led by Captain Leah Ruby “Chiclet” Pecson, Topflite Academy’s UPRT instructor and the first female UPRT instructor in the Philippines. “This strategic partnership reflects Topflite Academy’s dedication to delivering world-class pilot training and enhancing aviation safety standards in the Philippines,” said Captain Sahl Andrew Onglatco, Accountable Manager of Topflite Academy.
Through this partnership, Topflite Academy and Airworks Aviation strengthen their shared commitment to delivering internationally recognized training programs that prepare pilots in general aviation, airlines, and other sectors with the skills to ensure safe and effective flight operations.
